FIRSTHAND: Living in Poverty launches with a live virtual event on Monday, January 18, marking Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Dr. King’s commitment to eradicating poverty in our country. Preview the series and join an intimate conversation about the increasingly urgent crisis of poverty in our city and state — with a special introduction from Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr. The conversation, moderated by executive producer Dan Protess, will feature Carmelo Barbaro (Executive Director, UChicago Poverty Lab), Ebony Scott (Partnership Director, Family Independence Initiative), Audra Wilson (President & CEO, Shriver Center on Poverty Law), and documentary subject Melissa Fonseca.
