A Better Chicago grantees are playing a critical role in empowering Chicago youth to thrive. We use a multi-step process to select these outstanding organizations.
We welcome applications from nonprofit organizations and initiatives at different stages of development that are focused on creating opportunity for Black and Latinx youth from low-income backgrounds. Eligible candidates may be operating in the Chicago region or planning a Chicago launch. To be considered for investment, the first step is to complete this application. We will provide an update on the status of your application within six weeks of submission.
A Better Chicago’s core investment areas include education (early childhood through post-secondary), careers, social-emotional development, and basic needs.
Note: While we are no longer soliciting applications specifically for grants from our Emergency Relief Fund, we recognize that the pandemic continues to have wide-ranging impacts on youth and the nonprofits that serve them. With that in mind, we have created space in our general application for applicants to speak to their relief and recovery efforts, as relevant.
Eligible geographies include the City of Chicago and Cook County, DuPage County, Kane County, Lake County, McHenry County, and Will County.
Our goal is to make this application as accessible as possible. With that in mind, please consider the following options and select the most convenient way to apply:
- Complete this Google form
- Respond to the application questions by sending an email to Grants@abetterchicago.org with:
- Written responses in email body or as an attachment
- Voice or video recording
- Relevant proposals or materials developed for other funders
If you have any questions related to applying, please email Grants@abetterchicago.org or call Marshana Roberts at 312.674.7088.
Funding decisions will be made on a rolling basis. We will confirm receipt of your application within one business day and be in touch with further questions, to request a follow-up call, or to share an update within six weeks of submission.
